...it's The End.

have you heard the awesome news?

of the weekend...

highs:
  • spreading the love of panakuchen. Who can taste its goodness and not be struck by Cupid's culinary arrows?
  • gathering friends and enjoying their company completely
  • once again - feeling connected to the city I love by running into new acquaintances while out
  • puppet show at Black Cherry - It kept me on the edge of my seat with emotion!
  • watching people dance to a remix of a song from the children's literacy curriculum I used at my old school, then in my quest to find the remixes, discovering that the songs were originally from a TV show in the 70's
lows:
  • the nebulous uneasiness that comes with feeling like certain things are just out of your reach
huhs:
  • seeing 5 'Judgment Day' trucks in a row go by while out to lunch. First there was the billboard, then there were the pamphlets, and now there are the trucks! I'll post a picture as soon as I can. In the meantime, find out all about the beginning of the end here or here.

I'm excited about warm weather too, but stop

Ah, spring, heralded by the fact that I have to go and tell the neighbors to get off of my roof. No, really, don't walk on my roof.

the social network

Someday, I think advertisements you see on billboards will be tailored to you as a consumer. You will have some special chip that will cause your eyes to see this billboard as a different advertisement than someone next to you sees. All advertising will be hyper-targeted to each individual. Also, if you do not pay your taxes, advertisements will pop up in your field of vision, blocking everything else until you finally make your payment.

What I'm saying is, this is not far off. Facebook has been showing us targeted ads that often weird us out for years. I have had...
  • these
  • the one that said 'How to Grow Hair Fast!' right after I massacred my bangs
  • the one that said 'When was your last date? Is it because your car is an embarrassment?' during the Crowpocalypse
  • and now, this:

Facebook is trying to tell me what school to send my children to by showing me pictures of MYSELF teaching. Technology is weird. And it's not a coincidence.

of the week, Thursday to Thursday

It's been over a month since my last update. Unacceptable! But since I don't have any anecdotes that I'm just bursting to tell, you'll have to make do with an HLH.

highs:
  • seeing an old friend, yay
  • seeing all the local celebrities out and about on the weekend (and all the 'celebrities' that my friends and I have created, such as Bradley Bar and Transformer Guy - Oh yeah, I know where he lives now.)
  • good music in my favorite venue
  • feeling like, for one day, spring was here and anything was possible, before the cold front moved in
  • seeing old coworkers and some of my favorite children at my old school
lows:
  • being made to wait 50 minutes at an interview with only a measly 'sorry' - If it were any other situation, I would give them a piece of my mind. Okay, the piece of my mind would sound like, "I feel very disrespected right now. It is completely inappropriate for you to ignore someone for almost an hour when you had a scheduled appointment. I hope you do not treat your employees this way, but I have very little faith in that right now." However, it was an interview, so I had to bite my tongue.
  • burning bridges and worrying about burnt bridges - I want all my bridges intact, all the time! Is that too much to ask? I don't even carry matches for this reason.

huhs:
  • the random conversations I had at a bus stop in Hampden on a Friday night...I wasn't actually waiting for the bus; I just needed a place to sit. I should sit at bus stops more often.
  • the chaos that ensued when a toilet overflowed in my classroom - But of course, I managed to turn it into non-chaos.
